Description [0001] The invention relates to a filter having the features of the introductory part of claim 1 (EP 2 098 275 B1).
From EP 1 571 024 A1 a filter is known, which is intended for cleaning laden with pollutants air. This pollutants are retained in a filter which is arranged in one, an air inlet opening for the air to be cleaned and an air outlet opening for purified air having filter system. For generating an air flow through the at least one pollutant filter, the air inlet opening of the filter system is aligned transversely to an air flow, wherein the air flow, a natural air flow or an air flow generated by moving the filter system may be.
Further filter systems with combinations of several filters are known from DE 7 902 819 U, DE 29 622 912 U and US 2006/156927 A.
From EP 2 098 275 B1 a filter of the type mentioned is known. This known filter is intended to be mounted on vehicles and to filter air when moving the vehicle, in particular to filter out of air fine dust that is present in the area of traffic areas.
In order to prevent the filter effect affecting moisture (rain, snow and the like precipitation water) enters the interior of the filter, known from EP 2 098 275 B1 filter on a complicated structure.
The invention has for its object to provide a filter that can be arranged on moving vehicles and has a higher efficiency with a simpler structure.
This object is achieved according to the invention with a filter having the features of claim 1.
Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the filter according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
Since in the filter according to the invention in the region of the inlet opening controlled by a rain sensor flap is provided with the simplest effort that precipitation no matter what kind can not get into the interior of the filter and affect its effectiveness.

A filter 1 according to the invention comprises a housing 2 with an inlet opening 3 and an outlet opening 5, so that air can flow through the filter 1.
The filter 1 according to the invention can be arranged on a vehicle, for example above the cab of trucks or on the front roof area of buses, light trucks or passenger cars, that the inlet opening 3 of the filter 1 relative to the usual direction of travel of the vehicle forward has.
In the illustrated embodiment, the inlet opening 3 of the filter 1 is a grid 4, for example, an expanded metal, assigned, which prevents the entry of larger objects, such as stones and the like, into the interior of the filter 1.
The outlet opening 5, which is arranged on the relative to the usual direction of travel of the vehicle rear end of the housing 2 of the filter 1 is closed by a grid 6.
The inlet opening 3 is associated with a flap 9 within the grid 4, with the aid of an actuator in the direction of the double arrow 12 from its open position shown in Figure 1 into an operative position in which they the inlet opening 3 of the housing 2 of the filter according to the invention 1 closes, and can be pivoted back into the (open) ready position shown in Figure 1.
The movements of the flap 9 are controlled by a rain sensor 11 such that the flap 9 is pivoted in the event of precipitation water or even when spray, which is swirled by previously moving vehicles, so that the inlet opening 3 is closed.
In the illustrated embodiment, a coarse filter 7 is provided in the filter 1 according to the invention in the region of the inlet opening 3 within the filter 1. At a distance from the coarse filter 7, a fine filter 8 is provided, which may be designed in particular as a fine dust filter (filter class FM4). The flap 9 is arranged in a free space 16 between the coarse filter 7 and the fine filter 8.
In Figure 1 it is also shown that in the region of the pivot axis of the flap 9, a flow 10 is provided for along the flap 9 downwardly flowing water to prevent this enters the interior of the filter 1 and the effectiveness of the Coarse filter 7, and in particular those of the fine filter 8, impaired.
In the embodiment shown, three fans 13 are provided in the housing 2 of the filter 1 according to the invention to produce in the filter 1 a directed from the inlet opening 3 to the outlet opening 5 air flow. Although in the embodiment shown three fans 13 are provided which are driven by (electric) motors 15, the number of fans 13 is not limited to three.
